1912 is a family affair ran and owned by multi award winning David Stein Butchers, and big sister bar to the fantastic 1807 over the hill in Linlithgow. Cafebar 1912 is a little bit of cosmopolitan relaxation in the heart of Bathgate.

Taking its name from the year the building opened to the public this historic building has finally found its true calling. Originally an auctioneers and valuers it has existed in many forms over the past 100 years, the Norbury Hotel, The Scone Shop, dance hall, Mercado’s Casino, Mcalford’s Ford Car Showroom, Norbery Travel, Kirby’s Hairdressing, Marshalls Insurance, television repairs and even a boxing club to name just a few. From the historic concrete poured floor and stone masons chisel marks to the reclaimed Bathgate academy gym hall flooring used for the tables and seating this building has a true lived in feel.

1912 is the ideal place for that mid-morning coffee, a leisurely lunch or that late evening cocktail with more live music than anywhere else in West Lothian, what’s not to love.

1912 is not a pub and it’s not a restaurant, we are the dine or don’t type of place you love when you just want to chill, relax and enjoy yourself.

Cafebar 1912 has an almost unfair advantage. We truly are owned by an Award Winning Family Butchers, with over 40 years of experience our beef is the very best Scotland has to offer, we have worked with our local farmers for all of those 40 years, a unique situation which allows us to use the very highest quality produce but also provide great value for money.

Our cattle are reared less than two miles away by Gavin Scott at Gateside Farm. Our burgers are hand made from 100% steak, the haggis and sausages are freshly made in our shops and our steaks are minimum 21 day aged so you certainly don't need a saw to get through them.  Of course let's not take anything away from the rest of our simple but flavoursome menu.

Drink

Cafebar 1912 offers a wide range of premium beer, wine and spirits. We are extremely proud to be the first and only bar in West Lothian to offer the Edinburgh Beer Factory’s Paolozzi Lager as well as Birra Morretti, Maltsmiths and cloudy apple cider. We also have a wide range of whisky, gin, rums and vodka.
